A boy born with 15 fingers and 16 toes underwent a 61/2-hour operation yesterday to remove the extra digits.
Doctors at a hospital in Shenyang, Liaoning province, said the gruelling surgery for the six-year-old boy from Harbin was a success, the China News Service reported.
Such conditions are usually genetic, according to experts.
The boy's mother said he had been ridiculed and called a 'monster' by his schoolmates in kindergarten.
